Soling AGM Report, February 2015
2014 Activities:
Canadian Championships were hosted by Metro Marine Modellers of Toronto June 20 – 22 2014 attended by 24 sailors from Canada and the USA. Canadians as far away as Halifax and Americans from as far away as Florida competed won by Jim Goddard of Dartmouth NS.
Hudson YC, Quebec hosted a one-day Soling regatta July 20 and their annual Labour Day Regatta August 31. The former was 12 boats from Kingston, Montreal and Hudson that latter consisted of 10 boats 5 from out of town.
August 2,3 Canadians travelled from Halifax, Kingston and Woodstock to Stowe Vermont to compete in the annual CanAm Challenge Cup.
I am aware of active Soling fleets in Halifax, NS, Hudson, QC, Kingston, ON, Toronto, ON, Woodstock, ON, Windsor, ON and possibly Victoria, BC although I am not sure of the status of the latter fleet.
I processed 10 boat transfers and 9 new sail/boat number requests in calendar 2014. That was down from 12 of each in calendar 2013.
2015 Activities
Kingston Yacht Club will host the 2015 Canadian Championships June 13, 14 2015.
The USA National Championships will be held March 7,8 in Naples FL and I am currently aware of 2 Canadians who have entered.
Hudson YC will be hosting a one-day Soling invitational July 19 and the Labour Day Regatta again September 5.
The CanAm Challenge will be in Stowe VT August 1,2.
