The Prez Sez – a note from our President

Spring has arrived!

Dear Members of the Canadian Radio Yachting Association,
As spring gently rolls out across our great country, I hope this message finds each of you in good health and high spirits. The season of renewal and optimism invites us all to embrace nature and the joy of sailing on challenging waters. It is a time to celebrate our shared passion for radio yachting, a sport that not only challenges our skills but also fosters camaraderie and connection.
Whether you’re just dusting off your favorite yacht or preparing for thrilling regattas, may this season inspire new adventures and rekindle friendships built on the docks and shores. Let us look forward to weekends filled with laughter, competitive spirit, and the unmistakable rustle of sails catching the wind.
Coming up on May 31 to June 1 is the 2025 Soling 1M National Championship Regatta being held in Steveston, BC. Registration is open until May 15-25 follow the link at www.crya.ca.
On September 6-7, 2025 the Canadian team will defend the Soling 1M CAN-AM CHALLENGE in Dartmouth, NS. There are still spaces available on both teams so if you are interested follow the link at www.crya.ca.
When the newsletter was still active, we had regular submissions from members on building, racing and class news. I want to see that content flowing again via the website. You can submit an event, even a local event and have pictures, results and a regatta review published for your fellow sailors. We have regional directors, and I am suggesting they get the word out so we can get the story of our great sport/hobby out in the communities across Canada.
Thank you for being part of this vibrant community that upholds the traditions of radio yachting while embracing innovation and creativity. Together, we are not just sailors but custodians of a pastime that blends precision, passion, and the sheer joy of the sport.
Wishing you a spring brimming with smooth sailing and unforgettable moments!
Warm regards,
Jim Goddard, CRYA President
